Gift baskets are having a big moment on Pinterest this fall, and I get why. A basket you put together yourself feels so much more personal than a random gift set, and it usually costs less too. The trick is picking products people will actually use, not just things that look cute in the photo.
So I put together three beauty gift baskets, each for under $50, using products that are popular right now and have good reviews behind them. Two products inside I’ve used myself, and they’re clearly labeled. You can copy a basket exactly or mix and match.
The quick verdict
- For the friend with dry lips and hands: The Winter Rescue Basket (about $47)
- For the self-care lover: The Cozy Body Care Basket (about $42)
- For mom or anyone who needs rest: The Beauty Sleep Basket (about $48)
Two products here I’ve used myself, and they’re clearly labeled. The rest are research picks based on reviews from beauty editors, ingredient lists and brand info. This post doesn’t contain affiliate links.
The 3 beauty gift baskets at a glance
| Basket | What’s inside | Total | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Winter Rescue | Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask (I’ve used it), L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream (I’ve used it), e.l.f. Glow Reviver Lip Oil | About $47 | Friends, coworkers, anyone with dry skin |
| Cozy Body Care | Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub, eos Shea Better Body Lotion, Neutrogena Body Oil | About $42 | Sisters, best friends, self-care lovers |
| Beauty Sleep | Kitsch Satin Pillowcase, Biodance Bio-Collagen Real Deep Mask (4-pack) | About $48 | Mom, new moms, anyone who loves a night routine |
How to put together a beauty gift basket
- Pick a theme first, like dry winter skin or a cozy night in. A theme makes a basket feel thought out instead of thrown together.
- Choose 2 or 3 products. A few good products look better and get used more than a pile of minis.
- Find a basket or box. Dollar stores, Target and thrift stores have small baskets for a few dollars. A pretty box or tote bag works too.
- Fill the bottom with crinkle paper or tissue so the products sit up high and show off.
- Add a handwritten note. It costs nothing and it’s often the part people keep.
1. The Winter Rescue Basket (about $47)
For anyone whose lips and hands crack the moment the weather turns cold. Every product in this one is small enough to keep in a bag or on a nightstand.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask
✓ I’ve used this
Price: About $24
I’ve used this one every day for about two months. It really helps keep my lips from cracking, so it was an easy pick for a winter basket.
It’s a thick, balmy mask you put on before bed, and it comes in a little jar with a tiny spatula, which makes it feel extra giftable. Laneige makes it in several flavors, like Berry, Vanilla and Gummy Bear.
- Good to know: It’s scented, and the jar means using your finger or the spatula, which some people find less handy than a tube.
- Why I picked it: It’s one of the two products here I can vouch for myself.
L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream (1 oz)
✓ I’ve used this
Price: About $14 for the 1 oz travel size
I used this hand cream about a year ago, and it’s amazing. It absorbs fast, smells really good and helps so much with dry skin. L’Occitane makes it in a few other scents too, but the original shea one is still my favorite.
It’s made with 20% shea butter, plus honey and sweet almond oil, and the 1 oz tube fits in any purse. A little goes a long way, so even the mini lasts a while.
- Good to know: It contains fragrance and there’s no unscented version, so skip it for anyone with very sensitive skin or eczema.
- Why I picked it: It’s a cult classic for a reason, and the travel size is the perfect basket size. Go for the original scent.
e.l.f. Glow Reviver Lip Oil
Researched, not tested
Price: About $9
A budget favorite that’s often compared to Dior’s $40 lip oil. It’s made with squalane, apricot, avocado and jojoba oils, and it gives a glossy shine with a sheer wash of color.
Who What Wear had six editors test it. They found it hydrating and not sticky, and one called it “seriously on par with the best of the best.” Their main complaint was that the color is very sheer.
- Good to know: If they want real color, this isn’t it. Think of it as a glossy lip treatment.
- Best for: A cheap, pretty add-on that makes the basket feel fun.
Basket total: about $47 ($24 + $14 + $9) before the basket itself.
2. The Cozy Body Care Basket (about $42)
A whole at-home spa night: scrub, lotion, then oil to lock it all in. Perfect for the friend who loves a long shower and a good smell.

Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub
Researched, not tested
Price: About $10 for 18 oz
Tree Hut’s sugar scrubs are a drugstore favorite, and they come in tons of scents. For fall and holiday gifting, the limited-edition scents like Pumpkin Roll (vanilla, pumpkin and spice) are especially cute. The scrubs mix sugar with shea butter and oils, so they exfoliate and moisturize at the same time.
- Good to know: Sugar can sting on freshly shaved skin, so it’s best used before shaving, not after. Some scents are very strong.
- Best for: Smooth, soft skin and a fun shower routine.
eos Shea Better Body Lotion (Vanilla Cashmere)
Researched, not tested
Price: About $10 for 16 oz
The viral vanilla lotion. It’s made with shea butter, shea oil and vitamin E, and Essence beauty writer Kimberly Wilson calls it her “beloved body lotion.” The big 16 oz bottle makes the basket look generous without costing much.
- Good to know: The scent is sweet and strong, which most fans love.
- Best for: Vanilla lovers and everyday moisture.
Neutrogena Body Oil, Light Sesame Formula
Researched, not tested
Price: About $22 for 8.5 oz
A drugstore classic made with sesame oil. Marie Claire calls it its drugstore pick for body oils because of the big bottle and low price. It’s the last step of the spa night: a few drops on damp skin right after the lotion.
- Good to know: It can feel a little greasy if you use too much. There’s also a fragrance-free version.
- Best for: Anyone new to body oils.
Want to know more about these lotions and oils? I compared seven of them in my viral body lotions and body oils guide.
Basket total: about $42 ($10 + $10 + $22) before the basket itself.
3. The Beauty Sleep Basket (about $48)
For mom, a new mom, or anyone who could use a little more rest. Fold the pillowcase, tuck the face masks inside, tie it with a ribbon, and you don’t even need a basket.

Kitsch Satin Pillowcase
Researched, not tested
Price: About $29 at Kitsch, with discounts on 2-packs
Satin pillowcases have become a go-to beauty gift. Kitsch’s version is a soft, vegan satin with a zipper, and the brand says it’s sold more than 3.6 million of them. It comes in lots of colors, from ivory to blush.
Dermatologists quoted by NBC Select explain that smooth pillowcases cause less friction and absorb less of your skin’s moisture than cotton, which can mean fewer sleep creases and less frizz. Keep in mind that their comments were about silk. Satin feels similar but isn’t the same material.
- Good to know: It won’t erase wrinkles. Think of it as a small, nice upgrade, not a treatment.
- Best for: Anyone with curly or frizzy hair, and people who love a cozy bedtime routine.
Biodance Bio-Collagen Real Deep Mask (4-pack)
Researched, not tested
Price: About $19 for 4 masks
The viral overnight jelly mask that turns clear as it sinks in. It makes a perfect “treat yourself” pairing with the pillowcase. I looked at it closely in my Biodance mask review.
- Good to know: The collagen won’t build new collagen in your skin. It’s a very hydrating mask, and that’s why skin looks plump the next morning.
- Best for: A glowy-skin night in.
Basket total: about $48 ($29 + $19). Wrapping it in the pillowcase keeps it under $50.
Easy add-ons and swaps
- Want more color for the lip lover? Swap the e.l.f. lip oil for the Wonderskin lip stain (about $22).
- Want a different hand cream scent? L’Occitane also makes this hand cream in other scents, like lavender and cherry blossom. I still think the original shea is the best.
- Want a cheaper or cuter hand cream? Try a Tony Moly hand cream (about $10 to $12), which comes in fun panda and peach packaging.
- Shopping for a K-beauty fan? See my 10 K-beauty gifts under $25 for more basket fillers.
- Need one big gift instead? Check my beauty advent calendar comparison.
- Sensitive skin? Choose fragrance-free versions when you can, like the fragrance-free Neutrogena body oil.
Final verdict: glowy or not?
Glowy. A DIY beauty basket is one of the easiest ways to give a gift that feels personal and still stays under $50. Pick a theme, choose two or three products people will actually use, and add a handwritten note. If I had to pick one, I’d go with the Winter Rescue Basket, because I’ve used both the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask and the L’Occitane hand cream myself and loved them.
FAQ
What should I put in a beauty gift basket?
Two or three full-size or travel-size products around one theme, like dry skin, a spa night or better sleep. Products people use every day, like lip balm, hand cream and body lotion, are always a safe bet.
How much should a beauty gift basket cost?
Most of the baskets that look great on Pinterest cost between $30 and $50. You don’t need to spend more than that if you pick a few good products instead of lots of small ones.
Where can I get a cheap basket?
Dollar stores, Target, craft stores and thrift stores usually have small baskets and boxes for a few dollars. A tote bag or a pretty box works just as well.
What if I don’t know their skin type?
Stick to products that work for almost everyone, like lip masks, hand cream and body lotion, and choose fragrance-free options for anyone with sensitive skin.
