Perfume Advent Calendars 2026: Which Ones Are Worth It in the US?

Four perfume advent calendars on a cream linen cloth with pine sprigs: Jo Malone London, Carolina Herrera 24 Days of Beauty, Maison Margiela REPLICA and the unfolded Diptyque calendar.

Last updated: October 2026

Perfume advent calendars might be the most fun way to count down to Christmas. Instead of lip glosses and face masks, you open a new scent every day, plus candles and little body care treats along the way. They also make a beautiful gift for the fragrance lover in your life.

I wear perfume every day and I’m a floral girl at heart (here are the four florals I own and love), so this is the advent calendar category I’m most excited about. But perfume calendars are pricey, so I went through what beauty editors, bloggers and fragrance lovers are saying about this year’s calendars you can buy in the US, and which ones are actually worth the money.

The quick verdict

  • Best value: Maison Margiela REPLICA ($140)
  • Best for Jo Malone fans: Jo Malone London Christmas Kist ($495)
  • The editors’ favorite: Diptyque ($525)
  • Best for designer perfume fans: Carolina Herrera (from $210)
  • Most fragrance-packed splurge: Acqua di Parma ($1,022)
  • Smartest alternative: a perfume sampler set with a full-size voucher ($98)

These are research picks based on reviews from beauty editors, bloggers and creators, plus brand listings. I haven’t opened these calendars myself. Prices were checked in October 2026 and change quickly. This post doesn’t contain affiliate links.

The best value

1. Maison Margiela REPLICA Advent Calendar

Researched, not tested

Price: $140 on Maison Margiela’s US site

This is the easiest perfume calendar to say yes to. It has seven pieces, and according to Beauty Deals BFF, one of them is a full-size 1 oz Jazz Club Eau de Toilette. You also get Lazy Sunday Morning in a small bottle, a hand cream and a shower gel, a mini By the Fireplace and two small candles.

The calendar hasn’t had big editor reviews yet, but the scents inside have. The Everygirl’s Beth Gillette, who reviewed the REPLICA line, calls Jazz Club “the sexiest scent in the Replica family” and describes Lazy Sunday Morning as light and airy, like freshly dried laundry. Her one caveat is By the Fireplace, which she says smells like a fancy campfire. She loves it as a candle more than as a perfume, so keep that in mind if smoky scents aren’t your thing.

  • Good to know: With seven items, it’s more of a gift set in a calendar box than a full countdown.
  • Best for: Anyone who loves the cozy REPLICA scents, or a first perfume calendar that won’t break the bank.

The mid-range favorites

2. Carolina Herrera Advent Calendar: 24 Days of Beauty

Researched, not tested

Price: $450 for 24 days, or $210 for the smaller 12 Days of Beauty, on Carolina Herrera’s US site

If the person you’re shopping for loves Good Girl, this is the one. Who What Wear’s fragrance team says there are “surprises galore” behind its red and gold drawers, with fragrances like La Bomba, Cedar Chic, Very Good Girl and Good Girl, plus makeup and accessories.

  • Good to know: It’s a mix of fragrance and beauty, not perfume only. The 12-day version is a friendlier price if you just want a taste of the brand.
  • Best for: A show-stopping gift for a Carolina Herrera fan.

3. Parfums de Marly Countdown Calendar

Researched, not tested

Price: $460 for 12 items

Parfums de Marly fans are a loyal bunch, and Who What Wear senior beauty editor Jamie Chevron is one of them. She calls herself a PDM loyalist and says fragrance lovers on your list will fall head over heels for this one.

  • Good to know: Twelve items for $460 is a steep price per door, so it’s best for someone who already loves the brand.
  • Best for: The fragrance fan who has Delina or Layton on their wish list.

4. Jo Malone London Christmas Kist Advent Calendar

Researched, not tested

Price: $495 on Jo Malone’s US site, or $250 for the smaller 12 Days calendar

This is the iconic Jo Malone calendar, styled like a little trunk with 25 scented surprises. Beauty editors love it. Philippa Pearne, a former Glamour UK beauty editor, calls it a must-have and says the value is pretty generous for the price, with proper minis instead of sample vials that run out in two days. Woman & Home’s Sennen Prickett points out that the countdown ends on a high, with a 30 ml Tangerine & Honey Cologne.

For a more balanced take, NotBetter calls it a beautiful splurge that’s mostly worth it if you already love Jo Malone scents and will actually use the minis and home fragrance.

  • Good to know: Most of the 25 items are minis and travel sizes. The 12 Days version has mini colognes, a candle and body care for half the price.
  • Best for: A Jo Malone fan, or anyone who loves a beautiful keepsake box.

5. Diptyque Advent Calendar: 25 Scented Treasures

Researched, not tested

Price: $525

If there’s one calendar editors agree on, it’s this one. Woman & Home named it its beauty writer’s pick, and Elite Traveler calls it a calendar “that we look forward to every year.” Marie Claire’s Ariel Wilson describes 25 items in a wooden box, with candles in scents like Sapin and Feu de Bois, eau de parfums like Orphéon and Fleur de Peau, body care and refillable lip balms.

  • Good to know: It leans toward home fragrance, so expect plenty of candles alongside the perfumes.
  • Best for: Someone who loves a cozy, candlelit home as much as perfume.

The splurges

6. Guerlain x Germanier Advent Calendar: The Jewellery Box

Researched, not tested

Price: $725 on Guerlain’s US site

Elite Traveler’s Arianna Chatzidakis calls it “a treasure trove of beauty products” and says the velvet box itself might be the best part. Just know it isn’t a perfume-only calendar: about 11 of its 26 items are fragrances, including Shalimar and L’Heure Bleue. The rest is skincare, makeup, candles and accessories.

  • Good to know: Less than half of it is fragrance.
  • Best for: A Guerlain lover who wants skincare and makeup too.

7. Byredo Advent Calendar

Researched, not tested

Price: $955

Byredo is a fragrance-lover favorite, and editors are split in a helpful way. Who What Wear’s Jamie Chevron expects it to become a collector’s item, and Who What Wear’s UK fragrance team says that if they were going all out on a perfume calendar, this would be their choice. Elite Traveler is more measured, noting that at nearly $1,000 it needs to offer more than a pretty box, though the lineup covers a lot of ground.

  • Good to know: It was already sold out at Neiman Marcus when I checked, so if you see it in stock, don’t wait.
  • Best for: Byredo collectors.

8. Acqua di Parma Advent Calendar

Researched, not tested

Price: $1,022 on Acqua di Parma’s US site

The most expensive calendar here, and also the most fragrance-packed. Elite Traveler loves the design, which opens up like a miniature alpine hotel, and Woman & Home notes it’s filled with some of the brand’s most popular scents. Behind the doors are 12 eau de parfum and cologne minis, a 50 ml Colonia Il Profumo, plus soaps, hand creams and candles.

  • Good to know: The US page showed it as both in stock and out of stock, so check before ordering.
  • Best for: Someone who loves fresh Italian citrus scents and has a big budget.

The cheaper alternative: a perfume sampler set

Here’s the honest truth: perfume calendars are mostly minis, and you pay a lot for the box. If you mainly want to try new scents, a sampler set gives you more for less. Sephora’s Holiday Women’s Perfume Sampler Gift Set is $98 for 20 minis from brands like Jo Malone, Kayali, Maison Margiela, Carolina Herrera and Phlur, plus a certificate you can trade in for a full-size bottle of your favorite.

Beauty blogger Lorna Ryan thinks the sets are worth it, since you can test scents at home before committing to a full bottle. Just note that the certificate can’t be redeemed at Sephora inside Kohl’s.

How to choose a perfume advent calendar

  • Look for full sizes. Maison Margiela and Jo Malone’s Christmas Kist both include a full-size fragrance.
  • Count the perfumes, not the doors. A calendar with 25 doors doesn’t mean 25 perfumes. In the Guerlain calendar, only about 11 of the 26 items are fragrances, and the rest are skincare, makeup and candles. Diptyque also mixes its perfumes with lots of candles and body care. If you want mostly perfume, Acqua di Parma has the most, with 13 fragrances out of 24 items.
  • Pick a brand they already love. These calendars are mostly about discovering one brand’s scents, so a fan will enjoy it most.
  • Buy early. The most popular calendars sell out fast, and Byredo is already gone at some stores.

Final verdict: glowy or not?

Glowy, for the right person. A perfume advent calendar is a lovely gift for someone who already loves a brand, and Maison Margiela, Jo Malone and Diptyque get the most love from editors and fragrance fans for what you get. But most of these calendars are full of minis, and you’re paying a lot for the experience. If you mostly want to discover new scents, a sampler set with a full-size voucher is the smarter buy.
